With effect from 25 May 2026, nationals of the following 40 countries are eligible to obtain a tourist visa (ETA) free of charge for a period of 30 days.
Nationals of the following 40 countries are eligible for the free tourist visa (ETA) scheme.
The free tourist visa scheme applies to eligible passport holders as follows.
Nationals of the above-mentioned countries holding Diplomatic, Official, Service, or Ordinary passports are eligible to obtain a tourist visa (ETA) free of charge under this scheme.
All foreign nationals must obtain an ETA before arriving in Sri Lanka.
All foreign nationals, including nationals of the above-mentioned 40 countries and nationals covered by bilateral reciprocal agreements (Maldives, Seychelles and Singapore), are required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to arrival in Sri Lanka.
As per the bilateral reciprocal agreement between Sri Lanka and Maldives, Maldivian nationals will receive a 90-day tourist visa through the ETA system.

Tourists are entitled to a free visa valid for 30 days from the date of first arrival in Sri Lanka.
Double-entry facility is permitted from the date of first arrival within the 30-day validity period.
Maldivian nationals will receive a 90-day tourist visa through the ETA system.
Eligible travellers must obtain their ETA before travelling to Sri Lanka, even though the applicable visa processing fee is free of charge.
